JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Four Coldwater High School runners posted the fastest times of their careers on Saturday and earned medals at the Jackson Invitational which was held at Ella Sharp Park. Coldwater’s Kyle Foulk was ninth in the Boys Division Two race as he nearly broke the 17 minute mark.
Coldwater’s Kathy Potter was fifth, Elka Machan finished sixth and Legend Szafranski was 25th as they all earned medals in the girls Division Two meet. Both Potter and Machan came close to breaking the 19 minute barrier.
The Coldwater boys were tenth in the 11 team field while the Coldwater girls were fourth.
Bronson, Union City and Quincy traveled to the Pittsford Invitational on Saturday where the meet results were divided into the four grades. In the boys races, Bronson was third for the freshmen, fifth for the sophomores, 16th for the juniors and 11th for the seniors. Quincy was eighth for the sophomores, ninth for the juniors and fifth for the seniors. Union City was 17th for the freshmen, 13th for the juniors and 19th for the seniors.
Top Branch County finishers were Bronson’s Reagan Mayer who was eighth in the freshman race, Bronson’s Luis Ortiz was third in the sophomore race while Quincy’s Erik Butchart was sixth, Quincy’s Ian Trall was second in the junior race and Quincy’s Joshua Pepper was 13th in the senior race.
In girls races, Bronson was third for the freshmen, 15th for the sophomores and sixth for the seniors. Quincy was fifth for the freshmen, 11th for the sophomores, second for the juniors and third for the seniors. Union City was 16th for the freshmen and 14th for the seniors.
Top Branch County finishers were Bronson’s Abby Ware who was fifth and Alison Fish who were eighth in the freshmen race, Quincy’s Avery Rufenacht who was 13th in the sophomore race, Quincy’s Madelyn Allman and Makenzie Blatter who were fourth and fifth in the junior race and Bronson’s Xochitl Garcia who was second and Quincy’s Harmony Harpster who was third in the senior race.
