COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council on Monday night is scheduled to act on a request from City Manager Keith Baker which would authorize the submission of a Grant Application to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for a Modular Home Pilot Program.
Coldwater, St. John’s and Grayling have been selected by MSHDA to take part in the program. Baker says in his letter to the city council that the program would provide the financing and constructing of two new single-family residential homes using modular construction which would address a current housing need. He added the program would benefit families at or below 120 percent of the area’s median income.
As part of the local match, the city would acquire lots on which to construct MSHDA homes. Baker also said in his letter the city staff has discussed the potential of completing the remainder of Thompson Blvd. and Michael Drive to open up as many as 18 new single family lots for development.
The council will also be asked to approved a one year consulting services agreement with Haberl Media who would assist in recruiting new businesses to Coldwater and market downtown Coldwater to existing businesses in other communities.
