UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball Thursday, Union City beat Reading 66-32 in Big 8 Conference play.
The Lady Chargers were led by Nala Payne with 19 points, Ellie Williams with 18 points and seven rebounds, Calli Wilkinson with eight points and eight rebounds, Madison Krummrey with six points., and Brooke Thomas, Hannah Schorfield, and Emme Erye all with five points. Thomas also added eight rebounds.
The Chargers are 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the the Big 8 Conference.
Quincy beat Maple Valley 51-32. Kendyl Musielewicz led the way with 28 points, including seven three-points shots. Ashlyn Fickle added 16 points.
The Bronson varsity girls defeated Springport 48-42. The Viking JV team also won 35-24.
Coming up Friday, Coldwater will host Harper Creek in Interstate 8 Conference play. The girls varsity game is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys contest, with pregame coverage on WTVB at 5:20 p.m. It’s Senior Night for the boys varsity team.
Also tonight in boys basketball, Union City is at Reading, Bronson hosts Springport, and Quincy hosts Maple Valley.
The Coldwater JV boys basketball team beat Harper Creek 57-28 Thursday.
Kolton Rice led the scoring with 17 points. Joe Hayward added 15 points and Jack Aker scored 12.
