COLDWATER, I (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a Coldwater man has been charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. 55-year old Dennis Blount was arrested early yesterday morning in the apartment of a house where he lives on North Monroe Street.
According to City Police, Blount called Branch County 911 Central Distpatch just after midnight Monday to report that he had suffered a bite from a pit bull. Officers say the dog attacked him because Blount was threatening with a gun the alleged victim, described by police as the suspect’s girlfriend and the owner of the pit bull.
When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found the suspect highly intoxicated and holding the weapon.
Blount was arrested without incident and booked at the Branch County jail. He was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court with his bond set at $25,000.
Blount is scheduled to return to court for a probable cause hearing September 25, 2018.
