COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners gave Prosecutor Ralph Kimble permission during their work session Friday to advertise for a temporary full time position that would be needed at least through the end of November, and to fill two other openings in his office.
Kimble asked for the temporary independent full time contractor for the felony clerk position due to an upcoming medical leave in his office. He said the matter had to be addressed immediately so the person who is brought in is trained properly before the medical leave takes effect.
A full time Misdemeanor Clerk position will become open in a week due to a resignation. The position requires working with the District Court clerks as well as the Probate/Juvenile clerks.
A 28 hour per week part time position became open when Shelly Mundy took a full time position in the County Clerk’s office last month.
The Board of Commissioners would not be able to take formal action on the requests until their regular meeting September 26, but with the Prosecutor’s Office seriously short-handed right now, commissionesr gave Kimble permission to advertise the positions.
Kimble said they were getting to a point where there would be no one in his office and in essence there would be no criminal work going forward.
Kimble added he would consider any employee transfers first. He pointed out the part time position has been a stepping stone for people coming in and then moving on to other things.
