LANSING, MI (WTVB) – A 50-year-old Bronson man is facing charges for allegedly making a terroristic threat in a phone call to the Michigan State Capitol.
According to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, Gabriel Hetrick allegedly called the Capitol September 17, 2025 to inquire about tour availability and stated during the conversation that he was “going to start hunting Republicans, I think”.
He faces one count of making a terroristic threat, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and one misdemeanor count of malicious use of a telecommunications service.
Hetrick appeared for a probable cause conference on Thursday before Judge Cynthia Ward in Lansing’s 54-A District Court.
Attorney General Dana Nessel emphasized that threats against elected officials are serious crimes that undermine the ability of public servants to work without fear.
Court records indicate that Hetrick has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A preliminary examination to determine if the case will proceed to trial is currently scheduled for February 19, 2026.
