COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 14-year-old Coldwater boy was hospitalized Sunday evening after colliding with an SUV while riding an electric scooter at the intersection of West Chicago and Hanchett streets.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene around 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening, where they found the juvenile with a possible hip injury.
According to the Coldwater Police Department, the youth was traveling westbound on the sidewalk and attempted to cross the intersection against a “Don’t Walk” signal and a red traffic light.
The collision occurred when the scooter struck the side of a 2023 Chevy Blazer driven by a 25-year-old Quincy woman, who was making a legal right turn on a green light.
LifeCare Ambulance transported the teen to Insight Hospital and Medical Center for treatment, with assistance at the scene provided by the Coldwater Fire Department and Michigan State Police.
