Larry Leon Montgomery, 86, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Insight Hospital and Medical Center Coldwater, surrounded by his loving family.
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Larry was born February 16, 1940 to Arthur and LaVonne (Edwards) Montgomery in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Larry proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1965, he married Martha Anderson in Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2019.
Larry spent many years living in Montana, Texas, and Minnesota before moving to Coldwater earlier this year to be closer to his family. Larry worked as a truck driver, a mechanic, and owned a grocery store in Martin City and Columbia Falls, Montana.
Larry enjoyed investing in real estate and being a volunteer firefighter. He liked tinkering and was busy body. He also enjoyed fixing bikes for all the kids and boating in Montana. Larry was a tough guy and was involved with amateur rodeo when he was young.
Larry is survived by his children, Byron (Linda) Montgomery of Midland, TX and Sharon Ludwick of Union City; his grandchildren, Larry Lloyd Montgomery, William Hewitt, Jr., Monti Barnett, Matt Hamilton, and Kelly Hazen; and his many great and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Martha, Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dennis Montgomery and Russell Montgomery; and his daughter, Shelly Montgomery.
