COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Jackson Lumen Christi rushed for 335 yards as they defeated the Coldwater Cardinals 33-3 on Friday night at Cardinal Field. The only points for Coldwater came on a 29 yard field goal by Mo Salem with 4:12 left in the first half. That cut the Lumen Christi lead to 14-3. But Nick Thomas of Lumen Christi had a response on the next play from scrimmage as he scampered 73 yards for one of his two touchdowns on the night. Thomas wound up with 213 yards rushing and had nine tackles on defense. Coldwater’s Damon Beckhusen rushed for 45 yards while Matt Gipple rushed for 42 yards. Griffen Olmstead recorded 12 tackles on defense for Coldwater. Our McDonald’s Player of the Game was Coldwater quarterback/defensive back/punter Gage McGuire as he averaged nearly 44 yards a punt. Lumen Christi improves to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the Interstate 8. Coldwater drops to 1-2 overall, 1-1 in the Interstate 8.
