COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A request for a special land use permit was approved Tuesday night by the City of Coldwater Planning Commission which was submitted by J.L. Maynard and A-1 Homes and Development.
Eight conditions were included in the motion for approval including a stormwater management system that must be designed and built to detain the runoff generated by a 100 year storm before any building permits are issued.
Jim and Laura Maynard own and operate the McDonald’s restaurant in Coldwater. They are planning to install a business office and the exterior display of a model home in conjunction with manufactured home sales for A-1 on the property at 379 East Chicago.
Coldwater Zoning and Planning Administrator Dean Walrack said the special use permit was needed because of the exterior display of a model home in the site plan.
Jim Maynard said they need more room for supervisors and managers as well as for training employees.
They are currently in a small office at 61 East Chicago and according to Maynard are, “busting at the seams.”
The site at East Chicago and Rose Street is made up of two parcels and is currently a vacant lot.
