Dominic “Dom” Fantauzzo, 91, of Coldwater passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Grand Vista Assisted Living of Coldwater.
In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in the Detroit area.
The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Dominic was born to Steven and Rose Fantauzzo of Detroit. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. While home on leave, he married the love of his life Trina. He was a hardworking man who loved his job as a Detroit fireman. During 34 years of service, he rose to the rank, and retired as, a Battalion Chief. In 1975 he was honored by the Detroit Fire Department as Fireman of the Year.
Dominic was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He enjoyed being active, boxed while in the Army, loved swimming, and was a champion racquetball and handball player. He liked to travel, play cards, go to parties, dance, and spend time with family, especially his grand and great grandchildren.
Dom is survived by his wife of 69 years, Trina; his children Stephan (Michelle) Fantauzzo , Rose Ann (Terry) Callahan, and Craig (Diane) Fantauzzo; his brother John; his grandchildren Robert (Ann) Fantauzzo, Jenafer Kelly, Steven Fantauzzo, Ashley (Mike) Paradine, Chelsea (Jim) Kline, and Dominic Michael Fantauzzo; his great grandchildren Skyler, Anthony, Draven, Cameron, Hazelyn, Colton, Sullivan, and Genevieve; and his step great grandchildren Conner, Kaitlyn, and Zev.
He was preceded in death by his son, Victor, his parents, and his sister Toni.
