Police say despite shelter in place, no threat at Coldwater plant

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite employees being asked to shelter in place for a while, Coldwater Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid says there was no immediate threat and no active shooter at SEKISUI Voltek Monday afternoon.

Police say a person shared their thoughts with family about possible violence at Voltek. They say the family alerted police, who notified Voltek.

Scheid told The Daily Reporter his department was working with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department to ensure the individual received help. Pines Behavioral Health Services was notified.

The police chief said the family handled the situation properly.
