COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy is launching a targeted outreach campaign on March 10 and 12 to assist Michigan seniors facing high heating bills following a period of extreme winter cold.
Company representatives will call customers aged 65 and older who owe at least $200 to enroll them in payment assistance programs, supplementing these efforts with emails and postcards through the end of the month.
To qualify for this specific outreach, seniors must not already be enrolled in an installment or CARE plan, though shut-off protections remain in place for all customers 65 and older through April 1.
While the company will proactively reach out to eligible households, customers seeking assistance or information on the Home Heating Credit are encouraged to call 1-800-477-5050 to explore available payment solutions.
