PLEASANT LAKE, IN (WTVB) – The buffalo are no longer roaming in Steuben County.
Most of the bison that got away from a farm east of Pleasant Lake, Indiana last Sunday have returned home.
The Hamilton News reports of the 60 animals that broke through a fence, 52 have returned to the Pleasant Lake Buffalo Farm on East Johnson Lake Road. The other eight are still missing.
Farm owner Cathy Sanders told WANE-TV earlier this week that the bison are in mating season and she suspected the bulls broke down a fence after getting into a fight.
The buffalo eventually wandered back onto the property throughout the week with nearly 30 coming back on Thursday.
The roaming buffalo has been the talk of the Angola area this week. One local photographer had some fun on Facebook when he photoshoped a picture of a buffalo grazing on the Monument in downtown Angola.
