COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The CBPU Board of Directors approved a request from Water/Sewer Manager Bryan Massey on Wednesday night to buy an additional mobile standby generator.
The generator is being purchased from Wolverine Power Systems in the amount of $41,893. It was the lowest of three bids submitted.
Massey said in his memo to the Board the generator would be a critical piece of equipment to maintain operations at their lift stations.
The Water Department only has one mobile generator which is shared between the State Street and Willowbrook Road lift stations.
In the event of multiple electrical circuits being down, Massey said these two lift stations will require standby power to maintain their operation.
The State Street lift station services about half of the residential flow for sanitary sewer.
Massey noted that the growth on the east side of Coldwater has made the Willowbrook lift station a top priority for power during an outage.
