HASLETT, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater High School diver Benny Travelbee has advanced to the MHSAA Division 3 State Meet after a fourth place finish in the Regional meet Thursday at Haslett High School.
There were 22 divers registered for the Regional. All divers had five initial dives and the field was cut to 19. The remaining field had three more dives, with the second cut down to 15.
Those remaining divers had three final three dives, with the top 11 qualifying for the state meet
Coldwater’s sophomore duo of Benny Travelbee and Ivan McConnell both boys made the first cut with Travelbee in 8th place with a score of 135 and McConnell in 12th with a score of 123.25
They again made the second cut with Travelbee in 7th with a 225.20 and McConnell in 13th with a 195.85
Travelbee punched his ticket to the MHSAA state meet with a 4th place finish and a score of 320.60.
McConnell fell short of qualifying by placing 13th overall with a personal best score a second week in a row of 265.60
Both boys will join other teammates in various events next weekend when they travel to the Holland Aquatic Center to participate in the MHSAA Division 3 State Meet.
