DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are down 5 cents compared to a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.27 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 1 cent less than this time last month and 15 cents less than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $34 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $6 from when prices were their highest last January.
Pump prices across the nation increased nominally last week, while gas demand increased substantially according to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA). Total domestic gasoline supplies decreased and total crude utilization across domestic refineries took a small step forward from 82 percent to 82.5 percent.
“All of these factors, including sustained higher crude prices will likely contribute to higher pump prices this week,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Most expensive gas price averages in Michigan: Ann Arbor ($2.31), Metro Detroit ($2.31), Marquette ($2.28)
Least expensive gas price averages in Michigan: Traverse City ($2.16), Flint ($2.20), Lansing ($2.21)
