HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – Attorney General Dana Nessel recently announced the arraignment of 58-year-old Kevin Murphy for the alleged sexual assault of two minors in Hillsdale County in 2025.
Murphy, a Kentucky resident formerly of Hillsdale County, was extradited back to Michigan last week to face charges originally filed in October of last year.
His return was made possible through Operation Survivor Justice, a specialized partnership between the Department of Attorney General, county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service designed to track down and apprehend fugitives with outstanding sexual assault warrants.
During the announcement, Nessel reiterated the state’s commitment to securing justice for survivors by aggressively pursuing offenders who flee across state lines. Murphy is currently being held in the Hilldale County Jail, with his next court appearance set for March 25.
