COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A major construction project in both Coldwater Township and the City of Coldwater that was scheduled to begin last week has been pushed back until after the Labor Day holiday.
According to new signs posted by the Michigan Department of Transportation, the scheduled work on the I-69 Business Loop will start now start September 4. It was originally scheduled to begin Monday, August 13, 2018.
Orginal plans for the project had it scheduled to be finished by October 19, 2018.
MDOT’s Nick Schirripa says the contractor asked for the delayed start because of their schedule. He adds it’s not uncommon for a contractor to have several projects at once but they are still obligated to be completed by October 19th even with the delayed start.
There will be single lane closures under flag control during the work.
Crews will be repaving four miles of the I-69 Business Loop from the Fenn Road exit to Pierce Street in Coldwater.
The road will be converted from four to three lanes between Railroad Street and U.S. 12.
