COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners today will review a request to extend the emergency waiver of demolition fees for residents impacted by the March 6 Union City tornado, following a recommendation from Emergency Management Director Tim Miner and County Administrator Frank Walsh.
The proposed extension would move the waiver’s expiration date that is today and extend it for twenty-one additional days to Wednesday, April 8, covering the removal of storm-damaged structures on Tuttle Road, Prairie Rose Lane, and Tuttle Park Drive.
For the demolition exemption to continue uninterrupted, the Board of Commissioners would need to suspend their rules. If the Board is inclined to suspend their rules, a vote can follow at this afternoons meeting.
The measure is designed to expedite cleanup and alleviate financial burdens in the heavily impacted Union City and Sherwood areas.
We will have todays meeting covered.
