COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The woman who drove the wrong way on I-69 last October and collided head-on with a semi-truck has been sentenced to prison for operating while intoxicated.
On Thursday, 36-year-old Nerissa Judd, of Coldwater, was sentenced to a term of 14 months to 5 years by visiting Judge Amy Ronayne Krause during a zoom hearing .
Judd had previously pleaded no contest to a charge of operating while intoxicated, third offense, following the early morning crash on October 10, 2025 .
The incident began around 12:30 a.m. near Coldwater when witnesses reported a reckless driver veering into a ditch before re-entering the interstate traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-69.
Despite efforts by Coldwater Police to alert oncoming traffic, Judd’s GMC Acadia struck a semi-truck head-on near the State Street overpass.
While Judd expressed gratitude during sentencing that no one was killed, the truck driver has since filed a lawsuit in Branch County Circuit Court claiming serious injuries to his head, neck, and back sustained in the collision.
Judd has prior convictions for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and has a pending OWI 3rd offense charge in Oakland County.
