COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The potential failure situation involving the Blackhawk Dam in Coldwater Township has improved considerably over the last 24 hours.
Branch County Emergency Manager Tim Miner said Monday afternoon that crews for the Branch County Drain Commissioners office continue to make repairs to the dam. He says the repairs have returned the dam to normal flow and operation, but it will be evaluated by engineers to establish a long-term strategy.
The Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service for the Coldwater River and Pilot Knob area has been cancelled as the risk for flooding has been reduced, but residents should continue to monitor media outlets and official messaging.
Miner says Branch County Emergency Management and the City of Coldwater will also continue to monitor the situation.
