COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -The City of Coldwater is pushing forward with several infrastructure upgrades this week, highlighted by the replacement of an aging traffic signal at the intersection of State and Marshall Streets.
Following recent approval by the City Council, crews from Severance Electric Company, are beginning the $42,237 project to address frequent bulb failures and an obsolete controller.
The new system will feature energy-efficient LED lamps, which officials expect will significantly reduce the need for ongoing maintenance at one of the city’s few non-MDOT-maintained intersections.
Simultaneously, the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) is continuing its multi-year initiative to replace lead water service lines across the city, to eliminate lead from the local water system, with the city aiming for full completion by 2033 using state grant funding.

Work began this week on Morse Street, will be completed in sections daily between the hours of 8:oo a.m. and 4:00p.m. through April. While the street will remain open and residents will be able to access their property, they are asked to use caution and drive slowly throughout the construction zone.
