COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As the Detroit Tigers prepare for their 2026 season opener today against the San Diego Padres, fans in Coldwater are navigating a major shift in how they watch their favorite team.
The long-standing partnership with FanDuel Sports Network (formerly Bally Sports) has ended, making way for the all-new Detroit SportsNet (DSN).
For local viewers in Branch County, here is your updated guide to catching the action this season.
Watching via Cable and Satellite
After weeks of uncertainty, distribution agreements were finalized just hours before Opening Day. In the Coldwater area, fans can find DSN on the following providers:
– Charter/Spectrum: Detroit SportsNet is available on Channel 213. If you are using the Spectrum App on a smart device, look for Channel 436.
– Comcast/Xfinity: The new network is located on Channel 1253.
– DirecTV: DSN has replaced the old FanDuel Sports Network slot on Channel 663.
Streaming Options (Direct-to-Consumer)
For those who have “cut the cord,” the primary way to stream games in-market is through the MLB App.
Subscriptions for Detroit SportsNet are priced at $19.99 per month or $189.99 for a full year. While currently focused on the Tigers, this subscription will eventually include Detroit Red Wings games starting with their 2026-27 season.
The service is compatible with mobile devices, web browsers, and most connected TV platforms (Roku, Apple TV, etc.).
National and Specialty Broadcasts
Not every game will be on Detroit SportsNet. Approximately 140 games will air locally, while at least 16 matchups are slated for national networks.
National Outlets: Keep an eye on FOX, FS1, TBS, and ESPN for marquee matchups.
Streaming Exclusives: Some games, such as the April 5 home game against the Cardinals, will stream exclusively on Peacock.
NBC Returns: In a significant shift, NBC and Peacock have taken over the “Sunday Night Baseball” package, with Tigers’ own Jason Benetti serving as the lead national voice for these broadcasts.
