COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The long awaited renovation construction is officially underway at Rotary Park in Coldwater.
The initial $1.5 million phase of the redevelopment project, handled by Parrish Excavating, focuses on the east side of the Coldwater River and includes the installation of a new double concrete boat launch, modern public restrooms, expanded trailer parking, and a boat wash station designed to prevent the spread of invasive species. The city is utilizing Michigan marijuana excise tax revenues to fund the majority of these long-awaited improvements.
The current phase of construction is expected to conclude with the new boat ramp opening by June, at which point the city plans to immediately transition into Phase 2 of the master plan.
Plans for phase 2 include a new picnic pavilion, floating fishing docks, and expanded walking trails, that portion of the project is expected to be completed by late summer, and will significantly modernizing the park’s amenities for the North Chain of Lakes community.
