COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An East Leroy man who was arrested in Union City during a traffic stop March 12, 2018 was told to serve nine months in the Branch County Jail Monday in Circuit Court after entering guilty pleas to two charges.
21-year-old Cole Richard Christian admitted his guilt to less than 25 grams of a controlled substance and attempted carrying a concealed weapon. Five other charges were dismissed and prosecutors agreed not to authorize an absconding charge.
Christian was given credit for 77 days already served in jail. He was also placed on probation for 18 months ordered to pay over $1,200 in fines and court costs.
Court documents indicate he was stopped by Union City Police for equipment and plate violations. Police say a subsequent search led to the discovery of 2.45 grams of meth and a 45 caliber pistol under the driver’s seat that authorities said at the time was stolen out of Battle Creek.
