COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater has been awarded a $16,000 grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC) to bolster its downtown cultural initiatives for fiscal year 2026.
Selected from a competitive pool of 678 applicants, the city secured the funding through a rigorous compliance review process designed to ensure taxpayer dollars support high-quality artistic experiences for residents and visitors.
The funds are earmarked for the nationally recognized “Make Your Mark: Downtown Art Program,” managed in partnership with Coldwater Main Street. Specific projects on the horizon include the expansion of the city’s sculpture lease program, the installation of new downtown murals, and the return of the second annual Art After Hours event. These efforts aim to enhance public spaces and support local artists while driving tourism and economic growth.
To fulfill MACC requirements, the grant will be matched by a combination of public and private dollars, including contributions from Coldwater Main Street and local donors. The initiative also relies heavily on community involvement, particularly from the Main Street Design Committee volunteers.
City officials expressed gratitude for the award, noting it remains a vital component of their commitment to enriching the community through the arts.
