COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Golf Course hosted the first events of the season for the Quincy and Coldwater boys golf teams Tuesday afternoon.
Quincy Tri-Match vs. Potterville and Climax-Scotts
Quincy won their tri-match against Potterville and Climax-Scotts with a team score of 179. Climax-Scotts was second with 212, and Potterville finished third with 224.
The young Orioles started four golfers with no varsity experience. All six players on the varsity squad placed in the top ten for the match. Senior Braylon Estlow led the way and was co-medalist with a 42. He was tied for first by Freshman Carson Craven, in his first varsity action. Seniors Codin Ayerdi (3rd – 47) and Bo Tissue (4th – 48) rounded out the varsity scoring. Jax Sergent shot a 50 and tied for 5th and Daniel Burritt shot 51 to place him ninth in the match.
Kalin Scheidler was low JV player with a 56 and good for 11th in the match. Gavin Bearden, Colton Walters and Tucker Nichols round out the JV team.
Coldwater vs. Hillsdale Academy
Coldwater defeated Hillsdale Academy 210-223 as eight Cardinal golfers finished in the top ten. Jack Aker was the medalist with his round of 39. Wayne Case and Jake Fosdick tied for third with their rounds of 42, while Dracyn Foster was fifth with a 43. Braydon Wilkins tied for sixth with a 44, Kolton Rice tied for eighth with a 45, and Cooper Otto and Coleten Calhoun were part of a three-way tie for tenth with rounds of 46.
The Coldwater Invitational originally scheduled for Friday has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 21st. The Cardinals’ next action will be at the first Interstate 8 jamboree of the season next Tuesday at the Marshall Country Club.
The Orioles, meanwhile, will travel to Concord Hills next Monday as Concord hosts the first Big 8 jamboree of the season.
