COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Some history was made Friday during the Coldwater Cardinal Invitational at the Coldwater Golf Course. Bentley Coon, a freshman from Parma Western, carded a 5-under-par 67, the lowest individual score in the event since 2000, to help lead his Panthers to the tournament title. Western finished with a team score of 307, edging out Portage Central (308), Jackson Lumen Christi (309), and St. Joseph (311).
As for the host Cardinals, they fielded two teams for the tournament. The Red team finished 16th out of 24 teams with a 336; the White team placed 19th with a 339.
For Coldwater Red, Jack Aker fired an 81, Braydon Wilkins 83, Dracyn Foster 85, Jake Fosdick 87, and Wayne Case 101. For Coldwater White, Joe Searls shot an 80, Colten Calhoun 85, Cooper Otto 86, Kolton Rice 88, and Aiden Parker 111.
The Cardinals will travel to the Marshall Country Club on Tuesday for the first Interstate 8 jamboree of the season.
