COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will entertain a resolution this evening which would authorize the Branch Area Careers Center (BACC) to manage a growing Canada goose population on city-owned land.
BACC has requested to apply for a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) permit for nest and egg destruction to address overpopulation, property damage, and health concerns near industrial stormwater retention ponds between State and Seeley Streets.
If approved, the BACC will act as the city’s agent for a five-year period (2026–2031) to carry out humane, Michigan DNR-approved population control methods on city-owned property.
This measure is a direct response to complaints regarding nesting geese on the BACC farm grounds.

The Feds just need to drop those flying pigs from the protection list. They sure are not having population trouble.
