John D. Mossman, 93, of Quincy passed away Monday, April 13, 2026 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
John was born October 9, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Ray B. Mossman and Lyle B. (Butler). He married Marjorie J. (Dell) June 15, 1958, and she survives.
John dedicated many years to his work, including 20 years at Federal-Mogul, 10 years with Gamby Candy, and additional time at Riverside Manufacturing and Sears. He later retired from Prudential Insurance in 1994. John also honorably served his country in the United States Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
In his free time, John enjoyed bowling, walking, flower gardening, and spending time with his family and grandchildren, often attending there many sporting events and other activities. Following his retirement, he and his wife became snowbirds, spending time in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, a place he greatly cherished. He also enjoyed traveling to destinations such as the Cayman Islands, Alaska and Hawaii.
John was a lifetime member of The Community of Christ Church; he was also a volunteer for the Family Promise program since it began. John dedicated 22 years volunteering at Maple Lawn.
John is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Mossman; his children, Todd (Nancy) Mossman and Lori Groholski; his daughter-in-law, Susan Mossman; his grandchildren, Lindsey (Nizar) Idrissi, Chad (Karina) Mossman, Elise (Mike) Marsh, Cole (Becka) Mossman, Dana (Tre) Snow, and Croy Mossman; and his great-grandchildren, Jad, Braelynn, Misha, Hayden, Baker, and Finnigan.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ray, Gilbert, and Jay Mossman; his son, Craig Mossman; and his son-in-law, Steve Groholski.
