COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners is reviewing a resolution to join Cass
and St. Joseph counties in applying for up to $400,000 in Michigan Strategic Fund CDBG Urgent Need financing to address disaster recovery following the March 6, tornado that had a profound effect on all three counties.
If approved, the funds will support disaster case management services through a partnership with “After the Storm” to assist residents with housing stabilization and recovery planning, with Cass County serving as the lead applicant.
This collaborative effort addresses immediate threats to resident welfare, with the requested funding aimed at supporting ongoing recovery efforts across the three-county area.
The resolution, to be presented at the commissioner’s meeting this afternoon by Deputy County Administrator/Finance Director Jessica Miller, would formally authorize Branch County’s participation in the joint application and designates Cass County as the fiduciary agent for the project.
