SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A rollover traffic accident in Calhoun County’s Sheridan Township on Tuesday afternoon led to the discharge of about 150 gallons of black liquid asphalt sealer.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened at about 4:50 p.m. in the 25000 block of West Michigan Avenue after a 62 year old Albion man he lost control of his truck.
The truck which was carrying the asphalt sealer then left the road and rolled over on the edge of the railroad tracks and its embankment.
The unidentified driver was taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall for treatment.
Clean-up efforts are being coordinated between Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
Minor damage was reported to the tracks and a temporary speed restriction has been placed by Amtrak.
