BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Friday will be a big day for Bronson Community Schools, as they will break ground on their track renovations marking a major milestone for the district following the passage of a $29.91 million bond proposal last November.
The ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., with actual construction set to begin next month. The first phase of the bond project will see construction of an eight lane metric track to replace the current six lane yardage track that will allow the school to host MHSAA sanctioned events.
In addition to the voter-approved funding will also allow for the extensive expansion and modernization of Anderson Elementary which will house all of the district’s kindergarten through fifth-grade students in a single, updated facility. This consolidation will lead to the eventual closure of the aging Ryan Elementary, streamlining district operations and providing students with modern classrooms, a new gymnasium, and an expanded cafeteria.
Superintendent Kate Wall says the overall construction phase of all scheduled renovations is expected to last two to three years.
Wall and other school officials have praised the community’s support, emphasizing that these investments “brick by brick” will modernize essential infrastructure that has been a priority for the district since 2019.
