KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The attack and possible kidnap attempt of a woman in Kinderhook Township last Friday morning has concerned local residents, especially those who leave their homes in the pre dawn darkness.
A Michigan State Police detective says they are processing the evidence which was collected at the scene but no suspect is in custody yet.
Information on the type of evidence collected has not been released. Police agencies usually don’t release key information during an ongoing investigation to the news media because of fears the suspect or suspects may get tipped off.
The State Police said last Friday it appears the woman was leaving her home on Poley Drive near Southern Road when she came across an obstruction in her driveway.
When she got out of her vehicle to move it, she was attacked by someone who was wearing all camouflage which reportedly included a mask.
Troopers say she was struck with some sort of device by the assailant but she managed to fight off the attack.
The assailant ran into some nearby woods and got away even after a Michigan State Police K-9 was brought in to track the suspect.
The victim was treated and released from Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
No suspect description is available since the attack took place in the dark and the man was covered in camouflage. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police in Marshall at (269) 558-0500.
