COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will consider awarding the 2026-2029 residential waste and recycling contract to Republic Services of West Michigan during tonight’s meeting via Resolution No. 26-33.
As the apparent low bidder at $16.95 per month/unit, Republic Services is recommended to continue service, a position they have held since 2012, with the proposal meeting all insurance and bonding requirements.
If approved, residents will see a $2.25 reduction in monthly service costs, funded through utility bills, with a 5% increase proposed for the subsequent two years. The council is expected to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the contract, which was chosen after a competitive bidding process featuring three companies.
The council is also scheduled to review and approve recommended contracts for multiple contracts for infrastructure upgrades this evening, including sidewalks at several locations and the milling and paving of Liberty Street between Marshall Street and Grand Street.
This street serves traffic to and from Max Larson Elementary, Coldwater High School and Parkhurst Park.
