COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved over $1.3 million in infrastructure projects on Monday, featuring a $937,198.70 reconstruction of Morse Street between US-12 and Smith Street by Rieth-Riley Construction.
The project is budgeted for the 2026-27 fiscal year with funds allocated from the City’s Act 51 Major and Local Street Fund.
City manager Keith Baker says This street serves traffic to and from the BISD Career Center, KCC Grahl Center, Pansophia Academy as well as residential neighborhoods in the second ward. He says to try and minimize the effect on school traffic the goal is to get as much of the project as they can done this summer.
The Council also awarded $220,249.00 paving contract for Liberty Street between Marshall Street and Grand Street. This street serves traffic to and from Max Larson Elementary, Coldwater High School and Parkhurst Park that bid went to to Excell Paving Plus.
A third contract for $161,222.00 was awarded to Parrish Excavating to install sidewalks across 28 properties as part of a city-wide pedestrian connectivity initiative. The areas include West Chicago Street between N. Clay and Munson St., neighborhood sidewalks included in the project include eight Northshore properties, thirteen Arrowhead properties, five properties on Thompson Blvd and two properties in the Amber View Court subdivisions.
The projects, funded for the 2026-27 fiscal year, aim to modernize roads and sidewalks near local schools and residential areas.
