NAPOLEON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson’s baseball team had a 1-1 record at Saturday’s Napoleon Invitational, beating Clinton 6-5 in nine innings and falling to the host Pirates 11-5.
Against Clinton, the Vikings scored two runs in the top of the ninth to break a 4-4 tie, then were able to fend off the Redwolves’ rally attempt in the bottom of the frame to preserve the win. Rylan Fincham’s RBI double brought home what wound up being the game-winning run; he finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs total, while Max Byler was 3-for-6 and Reid Stukey went 3-for-4. Byler also earned the win on the mound in relief of starter Joe Fair.
Against Napoleon, Warner Wotta’s three-run triple in the fifth put Bronson on the board after trailing 10-0.
The Vikings will take a 10-7 record to Tuesday’s doubleheader at Stockbridge.
QUINCY, MI – Quincy went 0-2 at its Oriole Classic baseball tournament, losing to Dundee 12-4 in six innings and to Constantine 3-1.
In the first game, Dundee broke a 4-4 tie with eight runs in the sixth. Seth VanStelle went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Christian Craven also collected two hits.
Craven was 2-for-3 and drove in the Orioles’ only run against Constantine.
Quincy fell to 8-8-1 and will play at Maple Valley on Tuesday.
