COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As spring rains give way to sunshine and rising temperatures, Coldwater officials are reminding residents to keep their lawn mowers ready.
The City’s vegetation ordinance is now in effect, requiring all property owners to maintain grass and weeds at a height of less than six inches.
With the recent surge in growth, code enforcement teams are beginning their seasonal inspections to ensure neighborhoods remain tidy and sightlines stay clear for drivers and pedestrians.
Property owners found in violation will first receive a formal citation letter providing a ten-day window to bring the lawn into compliance.
If the grass is not cut within that timeframe, the City will dispatch a private contractor to mow the lot, with the total cost being assessed directly to the property’s tax bill.
Residents should note that the City only provides one warning; second and subsequent violations will result in automatic abatement and charges without additional written notice.
