COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 32-year-old Tekonsha man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies following a sexual assault investigation that began earlier this month.
On Friday, deputies from the Branch County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate inquiry after a juvenile female and her mother reported the assault.
Following a weekend-long investigation, deputies submitted their findings to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office, leading the court to issue a formal warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
Ryan Joseph Schlueter was taken into custody on Sunday on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) 1ST Degree and four counts of CSC 2nd Degree and lodged at the Branch County Jail.
During his arraignment on Monday, Judge Brent Weigle set Schlueter’s bond at $250,000 and ordered him not to have contact with the victim and not to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Schlueter pled not guilty to all counts and will be back in court for a Probable Cause Hearing on May 14, and a Preliminary Exam has been scheduled for May 19,2026.
The Sheriff’s Office says several agencies assisted in the case, including the Child Advocacy Center, Child Protective Services, Battle Creek Veteran Affairs Police, and Branch County Central Dispatch
