COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The week long 2018 Branch County Fair opens August 5, and this year’s Fair Court has been announced with Thursday night’s selection of the Fair Royalty.
The King and Queen will be introduced on the first day of the fair in a ceremony at the Dearth Community Center at the Fairgrounds in Coldwater. Judges reviewed the applications for the Court and then made their selections following interviews with the candidates.
There are two in the running for Fair King. Cameron Victor of Coldwater is the son of Shalimar Victor. Cameron is a nine-year member of the 4-H Superstars and BACC FFA. His major 4-H projects are poultry and swine and he plans to attend Southwestern Michigan College to study agribusiness.
Bryce Bucklin of Bronson is the son of Steve and Jessica Bucklin. He also is a member of the FFA and the Kinderhook 4-H Club and has been in 4-H for 7 years. His major projects are sheep and swine and plans to study agronomy and diesel tech at KCC.
There are three Fair Queen Court candidates. Annie Lehman is the daughter of Jeffrey and Marlene Lehman of Coldwater and is a seven-year member of the Up and At’Em 4-H Club as well as a member of the Branch County 4-H Shooting Sports Club. Her major 4-H projects include sewing, knitting, and baking and she plans to be a special education teacher serving children with hearing and vision disabilities.
Merannda Russell is the daughter of Mike and Ginger Russell of Waldron and belongs to the Boots ‘N Jeans 4-H Club. She participates in horses, starter calf, swine and creative writing. When she finishes high school, she will attend Western Michigan University for occupational therapy.
And finally, Savannah Taylor is the daughter of Lee and Amy Taylor of Colon and a 12-year member of 4-H while currently belonging to the Mudsock 4-H Club. A 6-year member of the FFA, her activities include the 4-H Proud Equestrian Program, Michigan 4-H State Youth Leadership Council and Branch County 4-H Leaders’ Council. Savanah plans on attending the University of Findlay to double major in criminal justice and western equestrian programs.
