QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – So how much paper waste is there at a typical high school? A lot, according to Quincy High School’s Meri Michael.
Michael helped to reestablish the Green Club at Quincy this past school year. At an all school rally last September, she spoke to the Quincy High School student body and recruited several like-minded individuals for the club.
The group applied for a $600 grant from the Branch County Community Foundation through their Youth Advisory Council and Youth Grantmakers Endowment to buy permanent recycling containers foe classrooms and hallways at the high school.
While four of the Green Club’s active members, including Michael, graduated in June, a number will be returning next school year to carry on the mission of the group. According to Michael, “My goal from the beginning was to develop recycling habits at our school that will last long after I graduated. These recycling containers will make a huge difference.”
