BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson won its own Polish Classic softball tournament Saturday with a pair of shutouts, beating Pennfield 12-0 in six innings and defeating Mendon 10-0 in five.
Madison Shaw threw a perfect game against Pennfield, allowing no hits or walks and striking out eleven. The Vikings got ten hits from nine different players; Audrey Shiery was 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Kalyeah Shoup drove in a pair of runs.
Against Mendon, Ashlynn Harris tossed a one-hitter with ten strikeouts. Shiery went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIS, Hermosa Gonzalez hit a single and a homer, and Lydia Wells was 2-for-4 with a triple.
Bronson improved to 26-5 on the season and will play at Reading on Monday.
JACKSON, MI – Quincy went 2-1 at the Al Glick Classic in Jackson. The Orioles beat Homer 3-2 and Onsted 11-4, but lost the championship game to Columbia Central 16-0 in five innings.
The Orioles scored the game-winning run against Homer when Mackenzie Sattison stole home with the bases loaded in the seventh. Sattison was 2-for-3 with two doubles, Josi Parker went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Miley Poindexter was 2-for-3. Taylor Lewis earned the complete game victory, allowing two hits.
Against Onsted, Parker allowed four hits and struck out 12. Offensively, she hit a three-run triple and finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Cali Richards also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Quincy was no-hit in the championship game by Columbia Central pitcher Camden Knapp, who tossed a perfect game with 10 strikeouts.
The Orioles will take an 11-17 overall record to their home doubleheader against Concord on Tuesday.
