COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another local group is leveraging its connections to provide relief for residents of the Union City area affected by the March 6 tornado.
The Altrusa Club of Branch County has received a $2,500 grant from the Altrusa International Foundation. The money will be sent to the United Way of Branch County for their Disaster Relief Fund at the Branch County Community Foundation.
The service club says their grant submission included a detailed narrative and media images illustrating the scope of the disaster.
Altrusa International of Branch County is a local service club that provides community service, develops leadership, and fosters and encourages fellowship through dedicated volunteers. The Branch County club supports many community organizations such as Teen Share, the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Branch County Literacy Council, Tibbits Opera Foundation, and others.
In addition, Altrusa has several hands-on projects including Happy Feet, which provides shoes, boots, and socks to children in area schools, and maintaining the Waterworks Park StoryWalk.
