CAMDEN TOWNSHIP, MI – (WTVB) – A 38-year-old Angola, Indiana man sustained serious injuries Thursday night after his moped collided with a car in southern Hillsdale County.
According to the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office, Zachary Gaffney was traveling eastbound on West Camden Road on a moped around 8:54 p.m. when he crossed the centerline near Bishop Road.
His moped then struck a westbound Hyundai Elantra GLS driven by 64-year-old Valerie Donahue of Fremont, Indiana.
First responders immediately performed life-saving measures on Gaffney at the scene before he was airlifted by Mercy Health Life Flight to Mercy Health’s St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, for emergency treatment.
Donahue was examined at the scene by emergency personnel but did not require hospitalization.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, with assistance from Camden firefighters, Fremont police, Steuben County EMS, and Coldwater Towing.
