LANSING, MI (WTVB) – State Sen. Jonathan Lindsey (R- Coldwater) recently introduced legislation that would eliminate the sales tax Michiganders currently pay on utility services.
Lindsey says “People simply can’t keep up with rising costs, and it’s creating difficult financial decisions for families across the state, This is just one of the many tax reforms I am pursuing because we need to act to lower the financial burden for Michigan families.”
Senate Bills 986 and 987 would eliminate the sales tax on utilities like electricity and natural gas.
The senator said taking the government out of the equation will lower bills across the board.
Lindsey added “These bills will provide families with meaningful tax relief so they can prioritize what matters most to them and their children.”
