COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors approved a new Strategic Plan for the utility Wednesday night.
CBPU Director Paul Jakubczak said it took just over a year for the plan to be put together and that it gives the utility direction on where they need to go in the future. He added the Strategic Plan is normally updated every three to five years.
Jakubczak unveiled the plan’s new Vision Statement
When it came to safety, the expected behaviors and actions included employees speaking up when conditions are less than safe and that all employees are empowered to be involved to make changes. In addition, after-action reviews of accidents and near misses will be conducted.
Key priorities included reliable utility services, financial stability, an effective workforce, excellent customer service, community economic development and environmental stewardship.
The development of action plans for each CBPU department called for various items including the conversion of overhead circuits to underground in order to improve reliability, having more customers use autopay and paperless billing, the complete transition of coax internet to fiber and the replacement of lead water services.
