COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Gas Utilities, in partnership with the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, has contributed $10,000 to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office to enhance its Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) program.
The donation, announced in a press release from Sheriff Fred Blankenship’s office will support the acquisition of equipment, technology, training, and resources to strengthen public safety operations across the county.
The funds will improve the sheriff’s office drone capabilities, which have become vital for search and rescue, emergency response, disaster assistance, missing person investigations, accident reconstruction, and crime scene documentation.
Drones provide critical aerial intelligence in hazardous or hard-to-reach areas, helping deputies and first responders make faster, safer decisions.
Blankenship said “This partnership with Michigan Gas Utilities is invaluable to our agency and the community we serve, their commitment to supporting public safety helps us enhance our capabilities and invest in technology that protects lives and property.” The sheriff’s office expressed gratitude for the ongoing support in advancing community safety.
