COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The National Weather Service issued what was called an “Excessive Heat Warning” for the weekend as they warned people around the region that heat-related illnesses were possible if the proper precautions were not taken.
It turned out to be a typical early summer weekend. It was hot but it was not blazing hot especially on Saturday.
Forecasters predicted a brutal Saturday with highs in the mid 90’s and heat index readings near 110. But some clouds rolled in and that kept the mercury at a reasonable level.
Saturday’s high recorded at the Branch County Memorial Airport just before 4:00 p.m. was 91 degrees with the heat index getting as high as 95.
The high for Coldwater once again on Sunday was 91 degrees. With the relative humidity dropping to between 30 to 40 percent, the heat index reading stayed the same as the temperature throughout the afternoon.
