COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say two children were hurt over the weekend when the mini-van they were riding in smashed into a telephone pole, causing heavy damage to the vehicle and pole.
Officers say the van was driven by a 16-year old male, and it appeared the 7-year old and 4-year old boys were not in child restraint seats at the time of the crash. The accident happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon on East Pearl Street near Lincoln Street.
The older boy was flown to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo by Life Flight for treatment of a head injury. The 4-year old was transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital by Life Care Ambulance for treatment of what police described as non-life threatening injuries.
There was no information available on the conditions of the youngsters with no names included in the Police Department news release. The accident remains under investigation.
